English vintner's sign circa 1920

Bring a touch of old-world shopfront charm to your wall with this long, hand-painted wooden trade sign. In bold cream script on a black ground it reads:
“R.H. Warren. Licensed to sell Wine by retail for consumption off the Premises. (Also licensed to sell Tobacco) M.P.S.”
Likely British, c.1900–1930, the sign would have hung above a doorway for a wine merchant/off-licence (and tobacco) retailer. The flourished lettering, small punctuation dots and pinstriped edging (with traces of red on the lower edge) are classic period details.

Structurally sound with stable paint. Expected wear, small flakes, edge bruises and old nail/screw points that enhance the character. No over-painting to the lettering.
