A striking and rare pair of hand-painted Spanish Talavera faience tiles, each in an eight-point star form and featuring vivid zoomorphic decoration. One tile depicts a stylized bull in mid-stride, while the other captures a lively rearing horse amidst scrolling foliate designs. Executed in classic Talavera tones of manganese black, ochre, and deep blue on a warm ivory ground, the pieces reflect the influence of both Islamic and Renaissance ceramic traditions. These tiles were originally architectural elements, late 18th century—possibly from a religious or noble building—and now serve as captivating decorative art pieces. Very good antique condition with minor surface wear and craquelure consistent with age. Mounted on modern custom iron stands for displaOne tile bears an inscribed mark near the bull’s tail, possibly a signature or workshop attribution.
