The design of American brass and glass wall sconces is reminiscent of Federal or Colonial Revival styles, popular in the late 19th to early 20th century. Smoke plates (the shallow glass domes above the globes) were designed to catch soot or smoke from candle or flame light sources, and are now a stylistic element. Clear glass hurricane globes with a classic bell shape protect the light and help to disperse it evenly. This pair is in excellent shape with polished aged brass.
