This exceptional antique mirror, circa 1760, features a classic Chippendale form, exquisite Georgian elegance, with a boldly scrolled and shaped walnut frame enhanced by finely carved and gilded decorative elements. The crest is adorned with a richly detailed central gilt shell flanked by dramatic acanthus leaf scrolls, a hallmark of 18th-century English design. The mirror retains its original glass, showing charming age-related spotting, and is bordered by a stepped gilt inner frame with egg-and-dart and foliate carving. The lower frame showcases a beautifully scalloped apron with applied gilt moldings, giving it a richly ornamental presence. Excellent antique condition with minor age-appropriate wear; original glass with desirable foxing. It would serve beautifully over a console table, fireplace mantel, or as a focal point in a traditional or eclectic setting.
