Norwiegan hanging corner cupboard, traces of original paint, circa 1820

Add a touch of rustic charm to your space with this striking 19th-century Scandinavian folk art wall cupboard. Handcrafted in pine, this piece boasts original painted decoration with vibrant floral motifs on green panels, evoking the traditional rose-painting (rosemaling) techniques of rural Northern Europe. The upper cabinet features three hand-painted doors with recessed panels, two of which flank a central door adorned with a worn but elegant keyhole escutcheon. Below, an open display area with sculptural, undulating supports and a sky-blue interior adds both character and functional display space.

The cupboard is inscribed with the initials "AJ" and exhibits a wonderfully aged patina, reflecting generations of use and care. Ideal for use as a kitchen, entryway, or accent piece, this cabinet offers both decorative charm and historical appeal.
